π Cinnamon Apple Crisp π₯§
Ingredients
For the Filling:
6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (about 6 medium; a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp works well)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Β½ cup granulated sugar
1Β½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
For the Topping:
ΒΎ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
Β½ cup all-purpose flour
Β½ cup packed light brown sugar
Β½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
ΒΌ teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
Instructions
Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or similar 2-quart oven-safe dish.
Make the Filling: In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice. Add granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1Β½ teaspoons cinnamon. Mix until apples are evenly coated. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
Prepare the Topping: In a separate bowl, combine oats, Β½ cup flour, brown sugar, Β½ teaspoon cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes. Using a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingertips, work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized clumps.
Assemble & Bake: Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples. Place the dish on a baking sheet (to catch any potential drips) and bake for 40β45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges.
Cool Slightly & Serve: Let the crisp rest for 10β15 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set slightly. Serve warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
