Deep Hamburger Sausage & Pepperoni Pie

Ingredients:

- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni (about 20 slices)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 refrigerated pie crust or pizza dough
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, diced onion, and green bell pepper (if using), stirring and breaking up meat until fully browned and vegetables are softened.
3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
4. Stir in tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld and sauce to thicken slightly.
5. Roll out the refrigerated pie crust or pizza dough and press it into a deep pie dish or a similar baking pan.
6. Spread half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the pie crust.
7. Pour the meat and sauce mixture over the cheese layer, then layer the sliced pepperoni evenly on top.
8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the pepperoni.
9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
10. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before garnishing with chopped fresh parsley.
11. Slice and serve warm.

Tips:
Use a deep-dish pie pan to contain all the layers and prevent overflow during baking.
For extra flavor, let the meat sauce simmer longer on low heat to deepen the taste.
