KOOL-AID SWIRL CANDY APPLES
Ingredients:
6 medium Granny Smith apples
6 wooden sticks
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 tsp white vinegar
1 packet Kool-Aid (any flavor – choose bright ones like cherry, blue raspberry, etc.)
Gel food coloring (to match Kool-Aid flavor)
White food coloring or edible white gel for swirling
Candy thermometer
Directions:
Wash apples thoroughly and dry completely. Remove stems and insert sticks into the tops of each apple.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and vinegar. Cook over medium heat, stirring just until sugar dissolves.
Clip on a candy thermometer and boil the mixture without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
Once it hits 300°F, remove from heat and quickly stir in Kool-Aid packet and a drop or two of matching food coloring.
Dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, turning to coat evenly. Let excess drip off.
For the swirl, immediately drizzle a thin stream of white food coloring (or edible white gel) over the coated apple while still tacky and rotate gently to create the swirl effect.
Place apples on the parchment-lined sheet and allow to harden completely at room temperature.

Tips:
Make sure apples are wax-free and dry to help the candy coating stick.
Add white swirl quickly before candy hardens for a clean pattern.
