Get Well Custard
Ingredients:
- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ground nutmeg
- Fresh berries, optional
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
2. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and salt until well combined.
4. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from curdling.
5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
6. Pour the custard mixture into individual ramekins or a baking dish.
7. Sprinkle a pinch of ground nutmeg on top of each custard.
8. Place the ramekins or baking dish in a larger baking pan. Fill the larger pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the custard containers.
9. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
11. Garnish with fresh berries if desired.
