🍫✨ Fudge Frosted Fantasy Cake Recipe ✨🍫
A dreamy, ultra-chocolatey cake with a rich fudge frosting that melts in your mouth.
🎂 For the Moist Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
• 1¾ cups (210g) all-purpose flour
• ¾ cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder (preferably Dutch-processed)
• 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup milk
• ½ cup vegetable oil
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 cup hot coffee (or hot water – coffee deepens the chocolate flavor)
Instructions:
1 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch (20cm) cake pans.
2 In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3 Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes with a hand or stand mixer.
4 Slowly add the hot coffee and mix until the batter is smooth. (It will be runny — that's normal!)
5 Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6 Cool completely before frosting.
🍫 For the Fudge Frosting
Ingredients:
• 200g (7 oz) dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa), chopped
• ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
• 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar (sifted)
• ⅓ cup (30g) cocoa powder
• ⅓ cup (80ml) milk or heavy cream
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• Pinch of salt
Instructions:
1 Melt the chocolate gently using a double boiler or in the microwave. Set aside to cool slightly.
2 In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy (about 2 minutes).
3 Add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix until combined.
4 Add the melted chocolate, vanilla, and milk. Beat until smooth and glossy.
5 If the frosting is too thick, add a bit more milk (1 tbsp at a time) until spreadable.
🧁 To Assemble the Cake:
1 Level the cooled cake layers if needed.
2 Place one layer on a cake board or stand. Spread a generous amount of fudge frosting on top.
3 Add the second layer, then frost the top and sides with the remaining fudge frosting.
4 Smooth it out or create rustic swirls with a spatula.
5 Decorate with chocolate curls, sprinkles, ganache drizzle, or crushed nuts — totally up to your fantasy. ✨
🍽️ Tips:
• For extra decadence, add a thin layer of chocolate ganache between the layers.
• Store in the fridge for up to 4 days — let sit at room temp before serving.
• Great served with vanilla ice cream or a shot of espresso.
