There’s something about the scent of ginger and molasses swirling through the kitchen that feels like a hug you didn’t know you needed. These giant ginger cookies bake up with crackly tops, soft chewy centers, and that warm spice that lingers just long enough to make you close your eyes and smile.

I dug this recipe out of an old tin where I keep handwritten cards — the edges are butter-splotched and a little curled, which means it’s been loved many times over. Perfect with a mug of tea while you watch the late afternoon light fade.
