Garlic Butter Steak with Lightning Noodles Recipe
For the Steak:
¾ lb flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye (thinly sliced against the grain)
1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
½ tablespoon oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
¾ teaspoon cornstarch
¾ teaspoon sesame oil
For the Noodles:
6 oz fresh or dried noodles (ramen or spaghetti work well)
1 ½ tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
For the Garlic Butter Sauce:
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic (minced)
¾ teaspoon grated ginger
1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
¾ tablespoon hoisin sauce
¾ tablespoon honey or brown sugar
3 tablespoons beef broth or water
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Directions:
Marinate the Steak: In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), cornstarch, and sesame oil. Toss everything together until the steak is well-coated, then let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.
Cook the Noodles: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set them aside. Be sure to reserve a little pasta water for later, in case you need to adjust the sauce consistency.
Cook the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned and fully cooked. Once done, remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining ½ tablespoon of vegetable oil and melt the butter over medium heat. Toss in the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Combine the Sauce Ingredients: Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey (or brown sugar), and beef broth. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
Toss the Noodles and Steak: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce, tossing them so they’re evenly coated. Then, return the cooked steak to the skillet and stir to combine everything. If the sauce feels too thick, splash in some reserved pasta water to reach your preferred consistency.
Serve: Sprinkle with red pepper flakes (if you want some heat), and serve immediately for a flavorful, savory meal!
