Black Forest Dream Roll β A Whipped Cream & Cherry Chocolate Fantasy
π Ingredients
For the Sponge Cake:
4 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
ΒΌ cup cocoa powder
Β½ cup granulated sugar
ΒΌ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cream Filling:
1 cup heavy cream
ΒΌ cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Β½ cup cherry pie filling (or fresh cherries)
For the Topping:
Β½ cup whipped cream
ΒΌ cup chocolate shavings
Fresh cherries, for garnish
π Instructions
1: Preheat & Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
Line a 10Γ15-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
2: Make the Sponge Cake:
In a large bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder in a separate bowl.
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, being careful not to deflate it.
Add the milk and vanilla extract and gently mix until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
3: Bake & Roll:
Bake for 12β15 minutes, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Immediately remove the cake from the oven and roll it up with the parchment paper. Let it cool completely while still rolled up.
4: Prepare the Cream Filling:
Whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
5: Assemble the Roll Cake:
Unroll the cooled cake and spread the whipped cream filling evenly over the surface.
Spoon the cherry pie filling (or fresh cherries) over the cream, then carefully roll the cake back up.
6: Add the Final Touch:
Spread whipped cream over the top of the rolled cake and garnish with chocolate shavings and fresh cherries.
