🌶️🐍 Homemade Texas-Style Rattlesnake Bites 🌶️🐍
Ingredients:
1 pound ground chicken or turkey
1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup diced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
Vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken or turkey, shredded pepper jack cheese, cream cheese, diced jalapeños, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
Set up a breading station by placing the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate shallow dishes. First, roll each ball in the flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the breaded balls in batches, frying until golden brown on all sides, approximately 3-4 minutes.
Once cooked, transfer the rattlesnake bites to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for an additional 10-15 minutes, until they are cooked through and the cheese is melted.
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or spicy aioli.
