So Soft and Buttery Homemade Rolls
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
2 teaspoons yeast
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/4 cups warm water or milk
1/4 cup oil
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
Brushing:
1 egg white plus 2 tablespoons water (Egg wash for brushing before baking)
2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing after baking
Directions:
1. In a bowl, add yeast and sugar. Then add warm water or milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until bubbles form.
2. Add oil, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture. Stir well to combine.
3. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 24 equal pieces.
7. Roll each piece into a smooth ball and arrange them in a greased baking pan.
8. Cover the pan and let the dough balls rest for another 30 minutes to rise again.
9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
10. Lightly brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash for a golden-brown finish.
11. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
12. Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter.
13. Serve warm with soup, coffee, or tea.
