A delightful twist on the classic British mince pie, this Mince Pie Apple Crumble combines the warmth of spiced mincemeat with the tartness of apples, all topped with a buttery, crumbly topping. Itβs the perfect dessert to enjoy during the festive season or whenever you fancy something comforting and delicious.
Ingredients:
For the Filling:
π Apples (e.g., Bramley): 4, peeled, cored, and sliced
π₯§ Mincemeat: 250g (your favourite brand or homemade)
π Lemon: 1, juiced
π§ Ground cinnamon: 1 tsp
πΏ Ground nutmeg: Β½ tsp
π§ Pinch of sea salt
π― Honey or golden syrup: 2 tbsp (optional, for extra sweetness)
For the Crumble Topping:
π§ Butter: 100g, chilled and cubed
π Plain flour: 150g
π― Demerara sugar: 75g
π° Ground almonds: 50g (optional, for added richness)
π§ Pinch of sea salt
Method:
π Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, mincemeat, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss everything together until the apples are well coated in the spices and mincemeat. If you like it sweeter, drizzle in some honey or golden syrup. Set aside.
