Bubbling Ice Volcano
Supplies:
- 1–2 cups baking soda
- 1/2 cup water
- Food coloring (blue or white for icy effect)
- Vinegar (for eruption)
- Small bowl or cup (for the volcano mold)
- Tray or shallow bin (to catch the fizz)
- Optional: glitter, glow powder, or LED light for sparkle and glow
- Optional: small Arctic figurines or trees for decoration
Directions:
1. In a bowl, mix baking soda and water until you get a moldable, snow-like texture (add more baking soda if too wet).
2. Pack the mixture around a small cup or mold to form your volcano shape, leaving the center hollow for “lava.”
3. Freeze the volcano for about 1 hour to make it icy and solid.
4. Remove from the freezer and place on a tray or shallow bin.
5. Fill the center with a few drops of food coloring, glitter, or glow powder if desired.
6. Pour vinegar into the crater and watch your icy volcano bubble, foam, and melt in a fizzing, snowy eruption!
7. For extra magic, place a glowing LED light beneath or behind the volcano to make the foam shimmer like northern lights.
