Homemade Apple Crumble
Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
- Pinch of salt
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly coated.
3. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
5. Add the cold diced butter to the flour mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
6. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
