🍰 Gâteau Basque 🇫🇷
Traditional Basque cake filled with custard pastry cream.
Ingredients:
• 250 g flour
• 350 ml custard (pastry cream)
• 125 g butter
• 150 g sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• Zest of 1 lemon
Instructions:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a round cake pan.
2️⃣ Mix flour, sugar, butter, lemon zest, and 1 egg into a smooth dough.
3️⃣ Divide dough into two parts. Roll one out and press into the pan.
4️⃣ Spread pastry cream evenly over the base.
5️⃣ Roll the second dough part and cover the cream. Seal edges.
6️⃣ Brush top with beaten egg for shine.
7️⃣ Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden. Cool before serving.
