๐ Classic Cinnamon Apple Crisp ๐
Ingredients (Serves 6):
4 cups (about 4 medium) apples, peeled, cored, and sliced ยผ-inch thick (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
ยฝ cup (100g) granulated sugar
ยฝ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
ยพ cup (95g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
ยฝ cup (120ml) water
Instructions:
Prep & Preheat:
Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish or 9-inch pie dish.
Make the Topping:
In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer or fork to cream together softened butter and sugar until smooth. Gradually mix in flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbsโsome small clumps are fine.
Layer the Apples:
Spread apple slices evenly in the prepared dish. Sprinkle cinnamon over the top, then pour water evenly over the apples (this creates steam for tender fruit).
Add the Crumb:
Sprinkle the butter-sugar-flour mixture evenly over the applesโno need to press down.
Bake:
Bake 30โ40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling and fork-tender. If the topping browns too quickly, loosely tent with foil after 25 minutes.
Serve Warm:
Let cool 10โ15 minutes before serving. Enjoy as-is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or dollop of whipped cream.
