Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour π₯―
1/2 cup sugar π¬
2 tsp baking powder π₯
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold & cubed π§
1/2 cup whole milk π₯
1 egg π₯
1 tsp vanilla extract π¦
1 cup heavy cream π
1/4 cup powdered sugar π₯
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced π
2 tbsp sugar (for macerating) π¬
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and give an 8-inch round cake pan a lovely grease and flour treatment.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Toss in the cold cubed butter and cut it in until you have a crumbly texture.
3. Now, stir in the milk, egg, and vanilla extract to bring it all together into a dough, then pour that luscious mixture into your prepared pan.
4. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until it turns a beautiful golden color, and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let it cool to perfection.
5. In a chilled bowl, whip up the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks formβthis is where the magic happens!
6. Carefully slice the cooled cake in half horizontally. Spread a generous layer of whipped cream and fresh strawberries on the bottom layer.
7. Cap it off with the second cake layer, more whipped cream, and the remaining strawberries on top for the final touch.
