Baked Feta and Olives
A simple, flavorful appetizer with creamy feta, briny olives, and aromatic herbs.
Ingredients:
1 block of feta cheese (about 8 oz)
1 cup mixed olives (Kalamata, green, etc.)
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 tsp dried oregano (or 1 tbsp fresh)
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 tbsp honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
Fresh herbs for garnish (thyme, rosemary, or basil)
Lemon zest or wedges (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the feta: Place the feta block in a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
Add olives & aromatics: Scatter olives, garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes around the feta.
Drizzle with oil & honey: Pour olive oil (and honey if using) over the cheese and olives.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the feta is soft and slightly golden.
Garnish & serve: Top with fresh herbs and lemon zest. Serve warm with crusty bread, pita, or crackers.
Tips:
For extra flavor, add cherry tomatoes or roasted red peppers.
If broiling for a crisp top, watch closely to avoid burning.
