Cheesy Ravioli in Rich Tomato Sauce
A comforting plate of tender cheese-filled ravioli smothered in a savory tomato sauce with a touch of black pepper.
🧾 Ingredients:
For the Ravioli:
1 package (about 9–12 oz) of cheese ravioli (store-bought or homemade)
Salt, for boiling water
For the Tomato Sauce:
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
1/2 tsp sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil or parsley (optional)
To Finish:
Freshly ground black pepper
Parmesan cheese (optional)
🍳 Instructions:
Boil the Ravioli:
Cook ravioli in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Drain gently and set aside.
Make the Sauce:
In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté garlic until fragrant (about 1 min). Add red pepper flakes (if using), then stir in crushed tomatoes and sugar. Simmer for 10–15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Combine:
Gently toss the cooked ravioli in the tomato sauce to coat. Let simmer for another 2 minutes so the flavors meld.
Serve:
Plate the ravioli, sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper, and garnish with a few torn basil leaves or a dusting of Parmesan.
