This Creamy Mushroom & Asparagus Chicken Penne is a restaurant-quality dish made at home! Featuring tender chicken, fresh asparagus, earthy mushrooms, and a rich, creamy sauce, it’s the perfect weeknight meal packed with flavor.

Ingredients
Pasta & Protein:
8 oz penne pasta
2 chicken breasts, sliced into strips
Vegetables & Aromatics:
1 cup asparagus, chopped into 1-inch pieces
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup onion, finely chopped
Sauce Ingredients:
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup chicken broth
1 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Garnish (Optional):
Fresh parsley, chopped
Extra Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
2. Cook the Chicken
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add sliced chicken, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Add onions, garlic, mushrooms, and asparagus, and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
4. Make the Cream Sauce
Pour in chicken broth and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, stirring until smooth and creamy.
Add red pepper flakes for a hint of spice (optional).
5. Combine Everything
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet.
Add the drained pasta and toss everything together.
If needed, add reserved pasta water for extra creaminess.
