Surf and Turf with Cajun Shrimp and Creamy Sauce 🦐🥩
Ingredients:
- 6 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (divided)
- 1/4 cup chicken or seafood broth
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (divided)
- 2 filet mignons, 6 ounces each
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Fresh parsley for garnish
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Begin by preheating a skillet over medium-high heat. While the skillet warms, rub the filet mignons with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and season generously with salt and black pepper. Sear the steaks for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare doneness, or adjust based on your preferred cooking level. Once cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet and allow them to rest.
2. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and heat it over medium-high. Toss the shrimp in 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning, then add them to the skillet. Cook the shrimp for roughly 2 minutes on each side until they are pink and fully cooked. Once done, set the shrimp aside on a plate.
3. Lower the heat to medium and melt the unsalted butter in the same skillet. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the chicken or seafood broth, followed by the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle in the remaining Cajun seasoning and allow the sauce to simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.
4. To serve, place the rested steaks on plates and top each with the cooked Cajun shrimp. Generously spoon the creamy sauce over the beef and shrimp, finishing with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for an extra pop of color and flavor.
