Servings: 4
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
For the Trout:
4 whole trout, cleaned and gutted
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste for spiciness)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 lemon, thinly sliced
For Garnish:
Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
Lemon wedges
Instructions:
Prepare the Marinade:
In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the trout, both inside and out.
Preheat the Grill:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, ensure the coals are hot and ashy. For a gas grill, preheat to around 400°F (200°C).
Grill the Trout:
Place the trout on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
Tip: Use a grill basket or foil to prevent sticking, if preferred.
Add Lemon:
During the last few minutes of grilling, place lemon slices on top of the trout for extra flavor.
Serve:
Remove the trout from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve with additional lemon wedges on the side.
