Italian Seasoned Ground Turkey with Pasta
Savory Italian Turkey Pasta Delight
Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey
12 oz pasta (penne or fusilli)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Water for boiling pasta
Directions:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes.
Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, thyme, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss until evenly coated with the turkey sauce.
Remove from heat and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
Serve warm and enjoy!
