For the Fudge Sauce Layer:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/4 cups hot water

1. Prep the Oven & Pan:
Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
Grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
2. Make the Cake Batter:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until a smooth batter forms.
Spread batter evenly in the prepared dish.
3. Add the Fudge Topping:
In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder.
Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batterβdonβt stir!
Slowly pour hot water over the top (use the back of a spoon to avoid disturbing layers). Again, do not stir.
4. Bake the Magic:
Bake for 35β40 minutes or until the center is set but still jigglyβsauce will be bubbling underneath.
Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
