Vintage Ginger Slab Cake π°π―
This Vintage Ginger Slab Cake is a wonderfully spiced, moist cake perfect for any occasion. Ingredients:
π§ Butter: 200g, softened
π Caster sugar: 200g
π₯ Eggs: 2
π Self-raising flour: 250g
π― Golden syrup: 100g
πΆ Milk: 100ml
π§ Ground ginger: 1 tbsp
π° Baking soda: 1 tsp
Method:
π³ Preheat the oven to 180Β°C (160Β°C fan) and grease a rectangular baking tin (20x30cm).
π§ Cream the butter and caster sugar together until light and fluffy.
π₯ Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the golden syrup and milk.
π₯ Sift in the flour, ground ginger, and baking soda, then fold gently until smooth.
π° Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth the top.
πͺ Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden and a skewer comes out clean.
π§ Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
