"The Ultimate Lasagna: Once You Try It, You’ll Never Look Back"
Ingredients:
12 lasagna noodles
1 lb ground beef
1 lb Italian sausage
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
Cook the meat sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened. Add ground beef and sausage, breaking it up as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper.
Once the meat is browned, stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, and sugar. Let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Prepare the cheese mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and the egg. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble the lasagna: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a third of the ricotta mixture, and then a third of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers twice more, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
Top with mozzarella: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top of the lasagna.
Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Rest and serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.
