For the Bottom Layer:
1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
For the Top Layer:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar (yes, 1 whole box!)
🔧 Directions:
Prep oven & pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Bottom layer: In a bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until a thick dough forms. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Top layer: In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, then gradually beat in powdered sugar until fluffy and creamy.
Assemble: Pour the cream cheese mixture over the bottom layer and spread evenly.
Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until the edges are golden and the center is set but still slightly jiggly. It will firm up as it cools.
Cool completely: Let cool in the pan before slicing into bars.
