Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 thick slices sturdy bread such as sourdough or Italian
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- 24 thin slices pepperoni
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt to make garlic butter. Mix well until smooth.
2. Spread a generous layer of garlic butter on one side of each slice of bread.
3. Place four slices of bread, buttered side down, on a flat surface or plate.
4. Evenly distribute shredded mozzarella cheese over each bread slice.
5. Spoon pizza sauce or marinara sauce over the cheese layer.
6. Arrange six slices of pepperoni on top of the sauce.
7. Top each sandwich with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
8. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
9. Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
10. Remove from heat, slice in half if desired, and serve immediately.
