Baked Ham

Easter is approaching and we will be making lots of hams. Below is a delicious recipe for a ham that is scored, then drizzled with honey and a cherry mixture poured over the ham. The end result is a tender juicy ham with just a touch of sweetness, but not to sweet. It leaves you wanting to lick your fingers. Hans are on sale right now and you can get numerous meals off of it, sandwiches, breakfast, dinner and supper. It goes great with grits for breakfast too. Can’t beat that deal in today’s times and prices.

~~Ingredients ~~
1 (8-9 lb.) bone in ham
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup light brown sugar (I made mine homemade)
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1/2 cup cherry juice with cherries

~~Instructions ~~
Preset oven to 335 degrees. Line a baking pan with aluminum foil, enough to totally wrap the ham.
Open your ham and rinse it off, don’t forget to remove the plastic insert in the bone on the bottom and discard.place the ham in the foil lined pan, flat side down.
Using a sharp knife, score your ham across the top and sides.
Slowly drizzle your honey over your ham and let it run down in the score markings.
In a measuring cup or small bowl, add your brown sugar, yellow mustard, cherry juice and cherries, then slowly pour that over your ham.
Wrap your ham where no ham is showing.
Place in a preheated oven at 335 degrees. Set time for 3 hours. When ham has baked 2 hours and 40 minutes, turn the stove off and let ham sit in oven undisturbed for the next 20 minutes. Remove ham from oven and let it sit again undisturbed for 30 minutes, don’t unwrap the ham.
After 30 minutes, unwrap ham and drain the juice from the ham. Slice and serve.
