Grilled Cheese with Gouda, Roasted Mushrooms, and Caramelized Onions π§π
This Gourmet Grilled Cheese takes the classic comfort sandwich to a whole new level. The buttery toasted bread, melted gouda, and savory caramelized onions and mushrooms make it an irresistible treat for any time of the day!
Ingredients:

2 slices of sourdough or artisan bread

1 tbsp butter (for grilling)

1 tbsp olive oil (for sautΓ©ing)

Β½ cup mushrooms (sliced)
β
Β½ onion (thinly sliced)
β
1 cup Gouda cheese (shredded or sliced)
β
Β½ tsp salt & black pepper
β
ΒΌ tsp garlic powder
β
Β½ tsp balsamic vinegar (optional, for added depth)
Instructions:
1οΈβ£ Caramelize the Onions & Mushrooms:
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add sliced onions and cook until soft and golden brown (about 10-15 minutes).
Add mushrooms, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. SautΓ© until mushrooms are browned.
Stir in balsamic vinegar and cook for another minute. Set aside.
2οΈβ£ Assemble the Sandwich:
Butter one side of each slice of bread.
Place one slice (butter side down) in a pan over medium heat.
Add a layer of Gouda cheese, then top with caramelized onions and mushrooms.
Place the second slice of bread on top (butter side up).
3οΈβ£ Grill to Perfection:
Cook until golden brown on one side (about 3-4 minutes), then flip and cook until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.
