4-Ingredient Homemade Bread
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups (370 ml) warm water
2 tablespoons (10 g) dry yeast
4 cups (500 g) flour
1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Step 1: Activate the Yeast
In a large mixing bowl, add the warm water and dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Step 2: Mix the Dough
Add the flour and salt to the bowl. Mix until a rough dough forms. If needed, use your hands to bring the dough together.
Step 3: Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Step 4: First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Step 5: Shape the Dough
After the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a round or loaf shape. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 6: Second Rise
Cover and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 7: Bake the Bread
Bake the dough in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Step 8: Cool and Serve
Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy your fresh homemade bread!
