Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches
Ingredients
1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp garlic powder
4 hoagie rolls, sliced open
8 slices provolone cheese
1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Prepare the Steak
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
Add the sliced steak, season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Sear until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
Caramelize the Onions
Push the steak to one side of the skillet and add the onions (and bell peppers, if using).
Cook until softened and caramelized, about 5 minutes.
Melt the Cheese
Lower the heat and place provolone cheese over the steak mixture. Cover with a lid for 30 seconds until the cheese melts.
Toast the Hoagie Rolls
Brush the hoagie rolls with melted butter and toast them in a separate pan until golden brown.
Assemble the Sandwiches
Fill each hoagie roll with the cheesy steak and onion mixture.
Serve warm with a side of ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
