Surf and Turf with Cajun Shrimp and Creamy Sauce 🍤🥩
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup chicken or seafood broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, divided
- 6 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 filet mignons, 6 ounces each
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning, divided
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Fresh parsley for garnish
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Start by preheating a skillet over medium-high heat. While the skillet heats up, take the filet mignons and rub them with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season them generously with salt and black pepper. Sear the steaks for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness, or adjust the cooking time to your preference. Once cooked, place the steaks on a plate and allow them to rest.
2. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Heat it over medium-high heat, then toss the shrimp with 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and are cooked through. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside on a separate plate.
3. Lower the heat to medium and proceed to melt the unsalted butter in the skillet. Add in the minced garlic and sauté for roughly 1 minute until you can detect its aroma. Pour in the chicken or seafood broth, followed by the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle in the additional Cajun seasoning and gently simmer the sauce for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, ensuring it thickens to your desired consistency.
4. To serve, arrange the rested filet mignons on plates and place the cooked Cajun shrimp on top of each. Subsequently, ladle the creamy sauce generously over both the beef and shrimp. Finish your dish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley to enhance its presentation and flavor.
