Directions
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
4. Divide the Batter: Split the batter evenly into two bowls. In one bowl, sift in the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.
5. Create the Zebra Pattern: To assemble the cake, drop alternating spoonfuls of the vanilla and chocolate batters into the center of each prepared cake pan. Start with a spoonful of vanilla, then add a spoonful of chocolate on top, and continue this pattern until all the batter is used.
