Tuscan Gorgonzola steak with mashed potatoes 🥩🧀🥔
Ingredients:
For the steak:
- 2 ribeye or filet mignon steaks
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Gorgonzola sauce:
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
- 1 teaspoon butter
- Pinch of black pepper
For the mashed potatoes:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup milk or cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Directions:
1. Prepare the potatoes: Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water for 15-20 minutes or until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Keep warm.
2. Cook the steaks: Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Rub the steaks with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Sear the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust based on your desired doneness). Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes.
3. Make the Gorgonzola sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add heavy cream and heat gently. Stir in Gorgonzola cheese and cook until melted and creamy. Add a pinch of black pepper to taste.
4. Assemble the dish: Plate the steaks with a dollop of Gorgonzola sauce on top. Serve alongside creamy mashed potatoes and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
