Homemade Chili Dogs
Ingredients:
4 hot dog buns
4 smoked sausages or hot dogs
1 tbsp oil
250 g (1/2 lb) ground beef
1/2 onion, finely chopped (plus extra for topping)
1/2 bell pepper (optional), finely diced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp ground cumin
Salt and pepper, to taste
100 ml (about 1/3 cup) water
Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a skillet. Add the onion and bell pepper, cook for 2–3 minutes.
2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
3. Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
4. Pour in the water and let the mixture simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
5. Heat the sausages in boiling water or in a pan.
6. Slice open the buns, place a sausage in each, then top with the homemade chili.
7. Sprinkle raw chopped onions on top and serve hot!
