Ocean Foam with Blue Soap – Bubbly, Sea-Scented Sensory Fun!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm water
- ¼ cup blue dish soap (Dawn or Joy “Ocean Breeze” preferred)
- 1 cup unscented shaving cream (for fluffiness)
- 1 tsp sea salt (fine) or Epsom salt (for a light, grainy texture)
- Optional:
- 1 tsp light corn syrup or glycerin (for slower deflation)
- A few drops blue food coloring (if you want a deeper hue)
- Pinch of iridescent glitter or biodegradable glitter (for sparkle)
- Small plastic sea creatures, shells, or miniature boats for play
---
Directions:
1. Prep Your Base
In a large mixing bowl or sensory bin, combine 1 cup warm water with ¼ cup blue dish soap. Stir gently until the soap is fully dissolved.
2. Add Salt & Optional Ingredients
Stir in 1 tsp sea salt (or Epsom salt). If using, add 1 tsp light corn syrup (or glycerin) and a few drops of blue food coloring for a richer ocean-blue color.
3. Incorporate Shaving Cream
Dispense 1 cup shaving cream into the bowl in dollops. Use a spatula or whisk to gently fold the shaving cream into the soap-water mixture. Mix until it becomes lightly foamy and holds soft peaks—like sea foam.
4. Adjust Texture
If the foam deflates too quickly, whisk in a bit more corn syrup or glycerin (¼ tsp at a time).
For extra sparkle, gently fold in a pinch of iridescent or biodegradable glitter.
5. Transfer to Sensory Bin
Scoop the fluffy foam into a wide, shallow bin or your bathtub.
Arrange plastic sea creatures, shells, or miniature boats on top so they appear to “float” in the foam.
6. Play & Explore
Let kids scoop, squish, and bury toys in the foamy “sea.” Encourage them to create waves, dig channels, or pretend to rescue fish.
When the foam settles, stir gently to watch it puff up again—perfect for repeated “surf” action!
7. Cleanup
Dump the foam down the drain—blue dish soap and shaving cream wash away easily. Rinse the bin thoroughly with warm water.
