Homemade Bubble Gum
π Ingredients (makes ~2 dozen pieces):
- ΒΌ cup gum base pellets (or chopped gum base blocks)*
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar, plus extra for dusting
- 1 tbsp corn syrup (light)
- Β½ tsp glycerin (food grade)
- Β½ tsp natural flavor oil (peppermint, fruit, or bubble-gum flavor)
- 1β2 drops food coloring (optional)
*Gum base is available online or at specialty candy-making shops.

1. Melt the Gum Base
In a small double boiler, add gum base and heat over low, stirring until fully melted (about 5 minutes).
2. Incorporate Sweeteners
Stir in corn syrup and glycerin until smooth and glossy.
3. Add Flavor & Color
Remove from heat. Quickly stir in flavor oil and food coloring, mixing thoroughly.
4. Dust & Knead
Sprinkle powdered sugar on a clean surface. Pour the gum mixture onto it.
When cool enough to handle, knead the gum like dough, folding in more powdered sugar until itβs no longer sticky and reaches a pliable texture.
5. Shape & Cut
Roll the gum into a thin log (\~Β½β³ diameter).
Dust a sharp knife with powdered sugar and slice into Β½β³ pieces.
6. Cure
Let pieces rest on parchment for 4β6 hours to firm up before chewing.
