Ingredients
1 package (12 ounces) chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreos), finely crushed
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 container (16 ounces) whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), thawed
Green food coloring (optional, for a grassy effect)
Pastel-colored candies or Easter-themed sprinkles (such as mini eggs or jellybeans), for decoration
Small plastic cups or mason jars, for serving
Directions
Crush the Cookies: Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a resealable plastic bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or the back of a spoon. Set aside about ½ cup of crumbs for later use as a topping.
Prepare the Creamy Filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined. Gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is light and fluffy. If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring to tint the filling slightly for a "grassy" look.
Assemble the Cups: Spoon a layer of the crushed cookie crumbs into the bottom of each small plastic cup or mason jar. Add a generous dollop of the creamy filling on top of the crumbs, spreading it evenly. Repeat with another layer of cookie crumbs and creamy filling, finishing with a final layer of the filling on top.
Decorate Creatively: Sprinkle the reserved cookie crumbs over the top of each cup to resemble dirt. Arrange pastel-colored candies or Easter-themed sprinkles on top to create a festive, springtime scene. Get creative with the placement of the candies to make each cup unique!
Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the assembled cups for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the filling to firm up slightly. Serve chilled and enjoy the delightful combination of textures and flavors.
