Artisan White Pizza with Ricotta & Mozzarella
🧀 Creamy, herby, cheesy goodness with a golden charred crust.
🛒 Ingredients:
For the Dough (or use store-bought pizza dough):
2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
¾ cup warm water
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
For the White Sauce:
1 tbsp butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp flour
¾ cup milk
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt & pepper, to taste
Pinch of oregano or Italian seasoning
Toppings:
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup dollops of ricotta cheese
¼ cup grated Parmesan (optional)
1 tsp dried oregano
Garlic flakes or finely chopped fresh garlic
Olive oil for drizzling
🔥 Instructions:
1. Make the Dough:
Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy.
Mix with flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead until smooth, ~5–7 min.
Let rise in a warm spot, covered, ~1 hour or until doubled.
2. Make the White Sauce:
In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
Stir in flour and cook 1 min. Slowly whisk in milk, cook until thick.
Stir in Parmesan, season with salt, pepper, oregano. Let cool slightly.
3. Assemble the Pizza:
Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) or as hot as it gets. If using a pizza stone, preheat it too.
Roll out dough into a round or rectangle.
Spread a thin layer of white sauce over the dough.
Top with mozzarella, dollops of ricotta, and optional Parmesan.
Sprinkle with oregano, garlic flakes, and a light drizzle of olive oil.
4. Bake:
Bake for 10–14 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
Let sit 1–2 mins before slicing. Serve with a glass of red wine 🍷.
