Apple Pie
Ingredients:
- 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (about 6 medium)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice; mix gently to coat the apples evenly.
3. Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate.
4. Pour the apple mixture into the crust-lined pie plate, spreading evenly.
5. Dot the butter pieces over the apple filling.
6. Cover with the second pie crust; seal and crimp edges. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
8. If the edges brown too quickly, cover them with foil halfway through baking to prevent burning.
9. Let the pie cool for at least two hours before serving to allow the filling to set.
