Chocolate Chip Cupcakes with Chocolate Drizzle

Ingredients

For the Cupcakes:

1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour

1 ½ tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

½ cup (120ml) whole milk

½ cup (90g) mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

¼ cup (60g) melted chocolate (for filling, optional)

For the Buttercream Frosting:

1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened

3 cups (360g) powdered sugar

1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp heavy cream (adjust as needed)

Pinch of salt

For Garnish:

½ cup (90g) mini chocolate chips

¼ cup (60g) melted chocolate (for drizzle)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Cupcakes

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.

Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Fold in mini chocolate chips, being careful not to overmix.

Divide batter evenly into the cupcake liners (about ⅔ full).

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let cupcakes cool completely before filling and frosting.

Step 2: Fill the Cupcakes (Optional but Recommended!)

Once cupcakes are cooled, use a small knife or cupcake corer to remove a small piece from the center of each cupcake.

Fill the hole with melted chocolate for a gooey center.

Replace the removed cupcake pieces lightly on top.

Step 3: Make the Buttercream Frosting

Beat butter until smooth and creamy.

Add powdered sugar gradually, mixing until fully incorporated.

Mix in vanilla extract and salt.

Add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time until the frosting reaches a fluffy, pipeable consistency.

Step 4: Assemble & Garnish

Pipe the buttercream frosting onto each cupcake using a star tip.

Drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips.
