This recipe is a legacy of the many Portuguese immigrants who have settled in South Africa. It is flop-proof, and made in a potjie using bread flour, yeast, salt, sugar and 3 cooked mashed potatoes. The potato cooking water is also used in the recipe, resulting in that unique texture and flavour.
