Would you eat this Patty Melt with Secret Sauce ?
Ingredients:
For the Patty Melt:
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
4 slices rye bread
4 slices Swiss cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Secret Sauce:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
To make the secret sauce, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, hot sauce (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Stir until smooth and set aside.
Form the ground beef into 4 equal patties. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side or until cooked through to your desired doneness. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 6-8 minutes until they are caramelized and golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Spread a generous amount of the secret sauce on one side of each slice of rye bread.
Assemble the patty melt: place one slice of Swiss cheese on one slice of bread, followed by a cooked beef patty, caramelized onions, and another slice of cheese. Top with the other slice of bread, sauce side down.
Heat the skillet again over medium heat. Grill the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and slice in half. Serve hot and enjoy!
