Strawberry Shortcake Bliss π°π
A delightful summer treat bursting with strawberry flavor!
π Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups sliced strawberries
- 1/4 cup sugar (to macerate berries)
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 tbsp confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for cream)
- 1/2 cup strawberry preserves
- 2 tbsp water
π Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C) and grease an 8-inch cake pan. Mix dry ingredients; cut in butter until crumbly. Whisk milk, egg, and vanilla, then combine with dry mix. Spread in pan and bake for 18-20 minutes. Cool on a rack.
2. Toss strawberries with sugar and let sit for 30 minutes. Whip cream with confectionersβ sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
3. Heat strawberry preserves with water until syrupy to make the drizzle.
4. Slice cake in half, layer with whipped cream and strawberries. Add the top layer, more cream and berries, then drizzle with strawberry sauce.
5. Garnish with extra strawberries and a dusting of powdered sugar before serving.
