Kafta Kabab is a classic Middle Eastern dish that has won hearts across the globe with its irresistible flavors and juicy texture. This dish combines ground beef and lamb, seasoned with a medley of aromatic spices and herbs, then grilled to perfection. Paired with a zesty Mediterranean BBQ sauce, tangy tahini, and a refreshing Biwaz salad, this kafta kabab platter is a feast for the senses. Whether served as a platter or wrapped in warm pita bread, it’s so delicious, juicy and flavorful.

Ingredients for Mediterranean BBQ Sauce:

2 medium red tomatoes, halved
1 small onion, halved
2 garlic cloves, drizzled with oil and wrapped in aluminum foil
1 large green bell pepper, halved
3 tablespoons parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon red bell pepper paste
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 teaspoon sumac
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Dash of salt

1- Preheat the oven to 200’C
2- Place the tomatoes, onion, garlic, and bell pepper on a roasting pan lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with olive oil.
3- Roast for 20–25 minutes until softened and slightly charred.
4- Transfer the roasted vegetables to a blender. Add parsley, tomato paste, red bell pepper paste, vinegar, spices, and salt.
5- Blend until smooth, creating a thick purée. Set aside.

Biwaz Salad ingredients:

1 cup parsley, chopped
1 onion, sliced into rings
1 tablespoon sumac
Sprinkle of salt

Combine parsley, onion rings, sumac, and salt in a bowl. Toss gently and set aside.

Tahini Sauce ingredients:
1/2 cup tahini paste
1/2 cup cold water
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 teaspoon parsley, finely chopped
Sprinkle of salt

Whisk tahini paste with cold water and lemon juice until smooth. Stir in parsley and salt. Adjust the consistency by adding more water if needed. Set aside.

Kafta ingredients:
500 g ground lamb and beef mix (20–30% fat)
1 small onion, finely grated
1/2 red bell pepper, finely grated
Small handful of parsley, finely chopped
2 1/2 tablespoons Mediterranean BBQ sauce (prepared above)
Dash of black pepper powder
Dash of allspice powder
Dash of cinnamon powder
1 teaspoon paprik
