"I made these thinking it would be just another meal, but my kids couldn’t stop talking about how much they loved them! My husband even joked about me making them for every meal. Safe to say, these homemade corn dogs are now a weekly request!"
Homemade Corn Dogs - Easy and Quick
Ingredients:
8 hot dogs
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
1 egg
1/4 cup corn syrup (optional for extra sweetness)
6 wooden skewers or popsicle sticks
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
Prepare the Oil – Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Hot Dogs – Skewer each hot dog with a wooden stick, making sure it’s securely on there.
Make the Batter – In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and corn syrup (if using). Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
Coat the Hot Dogs – Dip each hot dog into the batter, making sure it's completely coated.
Fry the Corn Dogs – Carefully place each coated hot dog into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Use tongs to turn them halfway through for an even cook.
Drain and Serve – Remove the corn dogs from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve with mustard, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy your homemade corn dogs hot and crispy! 🍴🌭
