Garlic Butter Steak with Mashed Potatoes
Hey friends, if you’re craving a cozy, hearty meal that feels like a hug on a plate, this garlic butter steak and creamy mashed potatoes combo is for you. It’s simple, satisfying, and perfect for any weeknight or special dinner.
Ingredients
• 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 8 oz each)
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 3 tablespoons butter
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 pound potatoes (Yukon Gold or russet), peeled and chopped
• ¼ cup milk (or cream)
• 2 tablespoons butter (for potatoes)
• Salt and pepper for potatoes
• Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Bring potatoes to a boil in salted water. Cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Keep warm.
2. Meanwhile, season both sides of your steaks with salt and pepper.
3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. When it’s hot, add steaks and sear 3–4 minutes per side for medium‑rare (adjust time for your preference).
4. In the last minute of cooking, drop in 3 tablespoons butter and minced garlic. Spoon the melted garlic butter over the steaks.
5. Transfer steaks to a plate and let them rest 5 minutes. This keeps them juicy.
6. Serve each steak atop a bed of mashed potatoes, drizzle any leftover garlic butter from the pan over both, and sprinkle parsley on top.
Enjoy this simple, warm dinner with family or friends. It’s one of those meals that brings smiles instantly.
