4 hoagie rolls or ciabatta buns, split and toasted
4 slices provolone cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
Optional Toppings:

Arugula or spinach
Horseradish sauce
Pickled jalapeƱos
Directions:

Prepare the Garlic Butter:

In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, and fresh parsley. Set aside.
Caramelize the Onions:

Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until golden and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
