Butterscotch Heaven Pie 🥧✨
Ingredients:
1 pre-baked graham cracker crust 🥧
1 cup brown sugar 🍬
1/4 cup cornstarch 🌽
1/2 teaspoon salt 🧂
4 cups whole milk 🥛
4 large egg yolks 🥚
2 tablespoons unsalted butter 🧈
1 teaspoon vanilla extract 🌱
Whipped cream, for topping 🍦
Butterscotch sauce, for drizzling 🍮
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Stir it all up until well mixed!
2. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil and thickens to perfection.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until they’re nice and frothy.
5. Slowly whisk in about 1 cup of the hot mixture to temper the eggs. This step is super important to avoid scrambled eggs!
6. Return the egg mixture back to the saucepan and cook for 2 minutes more, stirring continuously.
7. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until everything is melted and blended together.
8. Pour the luscious butterscotch filling into your pre-baked graham cracker crust.
9. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then pop it in the fridge for at least 4 hours or until it’s set.
10. Before you serve, top it off with some whipped cream and drizzle with butterscotch sauce for that extra touch of sweetness!
