Butter Whiskey Cake Recipe
Ingredients
For the cake:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
¾ cup whole milk
¼ cup whiskey (Bourbon or Irish whiskey work great)
For the whiskey glaze:
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
¼ cup water
¼ cup whiskey
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. Cream butter & sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Mix in vanilla.
4. Combine wet & dry: Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour. Stir in the whiskey.
5. Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. Make glaze: In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 3–5 minutes, then stir in the whiskey.
7. Glaze cake: While cake is still warm, poke holes in the top and slowly pour glaze over it, allowing it to soak in.
8. Cool & serve: Let the cake cool completely before serving. It gets even better the next day!
